About Me

Hello there — and welcome to RTC Studio.

Thank you for taking the time to visit this space.

I would love to briefly share how my journey into sound and wellness unfolded to where I am today—but first, a formal introduction.

My name is Yi Qian (Maria) Wu. I was born and raised in Melbourne, Victoria, by my parents, who emigrated from the beautiful city of Shanghai. In honor of my Catholic lineage, I have always been called Maria—unless I was attending Chinese school.

My background has always been rooted in science and healthcare. I have worked as a Registered Nurse since 2019 in one of Melbourne's major public hospitals. My clinical experience spans a variety of specialties, including medical-surgical, perioperative care, outpatient clinics, community care, aged care, emergency, intensive care, FIFO, and more recently, mental health.

Over the years, while continuing my work in healthcare, my attention shifted towards holistic health and wellness—particularly the nervous system and its influence on wellbeing. Driven by personal experiences, I became increasingly passionate about exploring ways to support nervous system regulation and cultivate a greater sense of calm, resilience, and balance.

Circumstances, chance encounters, and a series of affirming experiences eventually led me to explore the world of therapeutic sound. Seeking a structured and evidence-informed approach, I discovered the Peter Hess Method®—a sound-based relaxation modality developed by engineer Peter Hess in collaboration with medical professionals, researchers, and educators. For nearly five decades, the Peter Hess Institute has trained practitioners worldwide in the application of sound for relaxation and wellbeing.

It was during my training in Western Australia that I had the privilege of meeting people from a diverse range of backgrounds brought together through sound—including medicine, psychology, movement therapy, music, engineering, and neuroscience.

RTC Studio was born from a simple vision: to create a space dedicated to intentional care, deep rest, and meaningful restoration.

I look forward to welcoming you in person and supporting you on your own journey toward greater calm, balance, and wellbeing.

As always—return to calm, return to yourself.

With warmth and blessings,

Maria

Our Beliefs and Values

  • We believe sound has an important role to play in the future of wellbeing and complementary healthcare.

  • We view wellness as a lifelong journey of holistic care, grounded in self-awareness, intention, and proactive self-care.

  • We recognise that prolonged stress and nervous system dysregulation can contribute to physical, mental, and emotional strain. Our approach supports states of calm, safety, and restoration.

  • We acknowledge that the body is constantly in motion — from the rhythm of the breath and heartbeat to the activity occurring within our cells. Sound and vibration interact with the body in meaningful ways, which is why their intentional and systematic application matters.

  • Our approach is guided by structured protocols, practical experience, and evidence-informed research surrounding relaxation, nervous system regulation, vibration, and therapeutic sound.

  • We believe simplicity matters. As Peter Hess often says, "Less is more." Rather than overstimulation, we focus on gentle, safe, and intentional application.

  • Creating a safe and supportive environment is our highest priority. Every session is approached with professionalism, presence, care, and respect for the individual experience of each client.

  • We focus on supporting and strengthening what is healthy within the person, helping to restore balance and promote wellbeing of the body, mind, and spirit.

  • We value the integration of science, tradition, and lived experience in our understanding of health and wellbeing.

  • We welcome people of all backgrounds and beliefs. While our work is grounded in professionalism, safety, and evidence-informed practice, my personal appreciation for sound is also shaped by the Christian belief that creation began through God's Word.

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
— John 1:1
